Our Story.

At Lee Highway Nursery, we're more than just a lawn care and landscaping company - we're a family. Our story began with Chad's passion for lawn care and landscaping, which led him to join forces with the Campbell's. Today, we continue to grow and nurture our customers' outdoor spaces, just as we would our own.

Chad, our current owner has been in the horticulture industry for the past 33 years.

Growing up in Madison, he graduated from Virginia Tech in 1991.  Chad worked in the Tidewater and Southwestern parts of Virginia in his early years and moved back to Madison in 2000.

In 2010 he joined the Campbell’s as a partner/manager with Lee Highway Nursery.  With the retirement of Beckie & Cecil Campbell this past year, Chad took the reigns as Owner at the new location of LHN in Brightwood, VA.

  • Chad Lohr

    Owner

    Chad Lohr is a Virginia Tech graduate with over 33 years of experience in landscape and turf management.  After being a part owner for 13 years, in 2024 he became LHN’s new owner.

    Chad, his wife, Karen, and their three children live just down the street.  They keep busy as they are actively involved in their kids' sports and activities. Chad loves that he gets to interact with all his former and new clients as well as his crews while they are on-site working.

  • Chad Smith

    Operations Manager

    Chad Smith has over 30 years of experience in Horticulture.  Chad is well-versed in all facets of landscape installation and maintenance, including planting, hardscaping, outdoor lighting, and drainage.  Currently, Chad serves as LHN’s Operations Manager while also working as a skilled designer and purchasing agent.

    Chad’s passion for horticulture came from being an avid outdoor enthusiast.  He was raised in Culpeper where he resides today.

    Lawn Care & Plant Health Manager

    Hi everyone,

    My name is James, and I live here in Madison County on our farm that has been in our family since the late 1700's. I have two kids at home, that are away now at college and a feisty ole dog named Louis.

    Farm life and the love of watching and helping things grow, led me to get into the turf and plant care field. Nearly 20 years now since I've been in this field of work and I still love what I do!

  • Mary Austin

    Landscape Designer

    With over 41 years in the landscape industry, Mary Austin is here to help you with all your landscape and garden needs.  She has been a Virginia Certified Horticulturist and a Master Gardener for over 24 years.  Whether you are a homeowner or a civic organization, she is here to give you a warm country welcome while assisting you with your landscape needs.

    As she nears retirement, Mary and her husband Otis have settled in quite nicely in Madison, after raising their family in Northern Virginia.

  • Lisa Jordan

    Office Manager

    Lisa Jordan has worked for LHN since June, 2012.  She has worked in several departments for the company and is currently our Office Manager, overseeing all of the accounts payables and receivables, as well as organizing all the paperwork for the crews.  Lisa has been in the horticulture industry since 1998 where she had her first job as a cashier at a Garden Center.  She has a robust background in Floral Design including weddings and event planning.

    Lisa absolutely loves spending her free time in the Mountains and watching her daughters playing sports.   She is raising her two daughters in Culpeper.
